About Me and My Book:
I have been a nurse for registered nurse and I’ve always had the desire to write. Many years ago, I had started a book, but became discouraged, so I just shelved it.

After I experienced some events that were life changing, I decided that I would start to write and see if perhaps I could actually accomplish another dream of mine.

My first dream was to become a mother, which I did. I have two wonderful sons and they have blessed me with beautiful grandchildren.

My second dream was to become a Registered Nurse; and have enjoyed many aspects of the nursing profession for the past 28 years.

Now I am working on my third dream, writing. Time will tell where this journey will take me.

I have always had a love for children and my own grandchildren have inspired me to write children’s books, so that is the direction I am taking.

Because I am a “spiritual” person, it is my desire to write books that are not only educational and motivational, but will also reflect God’s character in the story. The story must show behavior that is a living example of how God would want us to be.

Demonstrating Christian behavior through actions of love and compassion reflect the kind of God that I would want my child or grandchild to know. The child will learn through these books the character of just being a good person.

My books will not have printed questionable language or behavior. Some of my stories may be fictional, but they will demonstrate words of unconditional love, appropriate behavior and encouragement for the child.

When I went to the book store to look at children’s books, I asked myself why I chose to write children’s books. There were just tons of books. Then I asked the clerk to show me where the Christian books were and she took me an area and pointed out two small shelves containing Christian books. So maybe, I am headed in the right direction. Time will tell.

Release of my first Christian Children's Storybook

I have just written a child’s book named " Lady Flatterley"

As a nurse, I have been inspired by my grandchildren to write books, especially books on the wonders of nature whether it be fictional or non-fictional. I would like to see children grow up to appreciate God’s creation that is so unmistakably displayed at the dawn of each new day. I feel there are so many distractions out in this world that can lead the child from learning about the important values in life. To her, her main foc… Continue

I am sending this out to BMN members who specialize in any aspect of children's book publishing, whether your an author, artist, publisher, or offer some other valued skill needed in the creation of children's books.

I invite you to follow my blogs and comment, critique, and network with me as friends (so I can follow your work too).

I have found ning in general to be the best marketing and reference tool compared to any advertising, networking, or leads I have ever used -- free or paid for. And all it's costs is our time.

Many of you are already in my friend network, and thank you for sharing your work with me. For those of you reading, this that I have not introduced myself too, I would like to now, and ask we be friends so I can follow your craft as well.

We all need to support each others work through this economic distress, no stimulus or bail out is going to help us.

In my latest blog post, you will also see three other ning networks that I have created. One for children's book professionals/enthusiasts, one for southern/Tennessee writers, artists, etc., and one for WillowRaven clients (present, past, or future) or simply just fans of my work. I invite you to join the appropriate ones for you as well.

By involving the local community, authors, publishers, editors, journalists and all forms of the literary world, we are opening their minds and bringing hope where there was doubt.
Scribblers’ Retreat is not the typical classroom setting. It was designed to bring world-class authors, literature professors, editors, journalists, illustrators, photo journalists, proofreaders, publishers, publicists, screenplay writers, and website/graphic designers, etc. one-on-one with young and old alike. It is the opportunity of a lifetime for someone who has had a manuscript in a desk drawer for 40 years or who has an outstanding poem that simply must be read.

Linda - this is the mention - I just copied from the comments on my page. You must have recently added Google alerts and this snuck through since it was mentioned so long ago.

I did the only thing I knew how to do. The book cover is under the heading "Lady Flatterley". I know I should make a blog just for that book. My son who is a computer geek is going to try and teach me how to make blogs over the phone this weekend so I can go ahead and try and make one. I really need to change the other one because of the coloring alone. Some people have said it is difficult to read so I need to change to a different template. If you go to the side and find Lady Flatterley, and click on it, the book cover will come up, or click on children's books on top then click on Lady Flatterley You mentioned about making a direct link to the page. That is one of the things that I hope my son will be able to teach me. He was one the one that built my blog. I'm just a nurse that needs to learn all the tricks of this trade. I'm tired of feeling helpless. It's time to learn.

Thank you for adding me as a friend. I get my books printed at Derek Press in Cleveland, Tn and have been pleased with their work. I like being able to sit across the desk from someone instead of over a phone, email or having to fly wherever. My problem is marketing. Do you know a good local marketer?
