- 30 years in the trenches of emergency medicine has afforded me a front-row seat at the Medical Miscreant road show. The National Practitioner Data Bank tracks 237,000 MDs referred to as either "Dangerous" or "Questionable." In the Summer of '09, 21 MDs were quietly convicted of rape, murder, drug-running, secretly photographing nude patients and Medicare fraud - just in California.
Anybody who thinks medicine simply has a "few bad apples" just isn't paying attention.

How well I remember. I was at Middletown Police Dept. then. The sgt. asked us at inspection one day, if any of us wanted to sign up for EMT training. When we got the training it was like, advanced First Aid, as I remember.
