Self Pub News Re-born

Hi all,

I am resurrecting Self Pub News in a new, shiny way that will hopefully work better. The only type of announcements available now will be books (as opposed to events and other things).

You need to send me three things:

  • A cover graphic

  • Text of no more than 75 words

  • The ISBN

To be considered, your book must be available through Amazon.com and in that 75-word length. The only other item that I will accept are book videos. Jus… Continue

Both traditionally and independently published?

I have been traditionally published (thrice over) by a mid-size publisher and have independently published one book (with two more before year's end).

For those of you that have done both, I am curious as to your reasoning for switching. I could most definitely get another book traditionally published. I decided I wanted more control and more money.

If you moved from traditional to independent, why?

Self Pub News

I am looking for content for my new Self Pub News. I am getting plenty of people who want to make book announcements (although feel free to send them along = 100 words + cover graphic + link to Amazon), but I am also looking for:

  • Announcements of conferences

  • Announcements of lectures

  • Announcements of bookstore signings

  • Announcements of awards

  • Announcements of ...

You get the point. I am… Continue

Scribblers’ Retreat is a non-profit organization established with the goal of reaching writers of all ages; to inspire and promote their hidden gifts and talents.
By involving the local community, authors, publishers, editors, journalists and all forms of the literary world, we are opening their minds and bringing hope where there was doubt.
Scribblers’ Retreat is not the typical classroom setting. It was designed to bring world-class authors, literature professors, editors, journalists, illustrators, photo journalists, proofreaders, publishers, publicists, screenplay writers, and website/graphic designers, etc. one-on-one with young and old alike. It is the opportunity of a lifetime for someone who has had a manuscript in a desk drawer for 40 years or who has an outstanding poem that simply must be read.

Thanks for the invitation Thomas. I saw a mention of your blog and newsletter in John kremer's newsletter. It's a great idea. I'll be sure to send more traffic your way.

My business is consulting to authors who either want help with self-publishign or help getting published by mainstream publishers. That includes editing, teaching, and strategizing.

Best,

Hi Thomas!

I'd love to be your friend! Thanks for the invite.

I'm the CEO of Up & At 'Em Publications - a company devoted to publishing, marketing and fundraising with booklets.

Booklets are a great way to get information to readers fast and affordably. Have you ever thought about the possibility of doing a booklet to promote your books? Or maybe you've got some information you don't want to write into a full length book, but it would make a nice booklet. I make as much profit from my booklets as most authors do from their full length books!

It's nice to meet you and I look forward to learning on this network together!
