Glad to be here! I love helping people make money with their words, and I've made a business philosophy out of the mantra: "The words 'starving' and 'writer' are NOT joined at the hip." I'm a resource for both aspiring freelancers and self-publishers who actually want to make a GOOD full-time living in either.
I've had decent success with my self-publishing efforts (50,000 copies of the two books in print, and a full-time living for five-plus years), all the how-to details of which are chronicled in my 2007 release, "The Well-Fed Self-Publisher: How to Turn One Book into a Full-Time Living" and the pretty killer self-publisher's marketing toolkit, "The Biz-in-a-Box" (www.wellfedsp.com).

I've been a commercial freelancer since 1994 (a lesser-known field of freelance writing, working with businesses, large and small, and for hourly rates of $50-125+). Less than 4 months after launching my business, I was paying all my bills. In 2000, I wrote and self-published the award-winning Book-of-the-Month Club title, "The Well-Fed Writer," about the lucrative commercial writing field, and in 2005, its companion volume, "TWFW: Back For Seconds", (www.wellfedwriter.com for more, and to sign up for my free monthly ezine).
I offer one-on-one coaching for both commercial writing biz start-up/reinvigoration and self-publishing (including specialties in title/subtitle consult, and back cover copywriting ("Mentoring" link at either of the two sites above).

Scribblers’ Retreat is not the typical classroom setting. It was designed to bring world-class authors, literature professors, editors, journalists, illustrators, photo journalists, proofreaders, publishers, publicists, screenplay writers, and website/graphic designers, etc. one-on-one with young and old alike. It is the opportunity of a lifetime for someone who has had a manuscript in a desk drawer for 40 years or who has an outstanding poem that simply must be read.
