Scribblers’ Retreat is a non-profit organization established with the goal of reaching writers of all ages; to inspire and promote their hidden gifts and talents.
By involving the local community, authors, publishers, editors, journalists and all forms of the literary world, we are opening their minds and bringing hope where there was doubt.
Scribblers’ Retreat is not the typical classroom setting. It was designed to bring world-class authors, literature professors, editors, journalists, illustrators, photo journalists, proofreaders, publishers, publicists, screenplay writers, and website/graphic designers, etc. one-on-one with young and old alike. It is the opportunity of a lifetime for someone who has had a manuscript in a desk drawer for 40 years or who has an outstanding poem that simply must be read.

Well, it's been a while since I was there (mid-'90s), but it's still very much in my heart.

I also love the Cajun connection...it links me back to Nova Scotia, original home of the Acadians and where I lived for 14 months...and where large chunks of The MoonQuest were written. (In fact I led a creative writing workshop at Acadia University!)

Although I write fantasy fiction (The MoonQuest)and non-fiction inspiration and teach spirituality, I read mysteries. Your plot sounds great!

About Me and My Book:
Sidra Smart, disillusioned ex-wife of a fundamentalist preacher, never imagined herself running a PI business—until she inherits her late brother’s detective agency; when a woman stumbles in with vague flashbacks of a 30-year-old murder, Sid takes the case, plunging into a surreal world where the flames of Creole superstition and passion burn as hot as the memories of child abuse, arson, and murder, and Sid's views on life, and life hereafter, take on a whole new twist.

The offering is free, but the story is priceless!

This month, on my web site at www.sylviadickeysmith.com, I feature a FREE short story by author M.A. Kemp entitled KILLING THE HOP KING. I think I'd go read the story for no other reason than the fantastic, intriguing title.

Later this week, I hope to have an interview with M. A. Kemp on my Blog at http://sylviadickeysmith.blogspot.com. So check it later in the week.

Hope you enjoy the story. If you do, let M.A. and me know.

Something for nothing!

Well, almost nothing, all it takes is an email!

I run a monthly contest on my web site for a free Third Eye coffee mug. All anyone has to do is send me an email asking to enter, giving their mailing address, and whether they want a right or left handed mug. (Yes, there is a difference!!)

If you haven't sent me your name and request, we are starting off a new month now, so throw your name in the pot!
