I agree, Margie. I started writing because I had a story to tell. It's corny, but it's true. The story turned into an outline, the outline into a manuscript and finally, after months of rejections, t…

I have to agree with Richard here. There is a stigma out there about self-published books that works against the author. You can have the next bestseller, but bookstores will be reluctant to carry it…

About Me and My Book:
I’m a classically trained artist who has been painting for over 30 years. I’ve done numerous commissions, illustrations for national products and co-authored and illustrated a children's book. Writing was always something I enjoyed doing, but never had the opportunity to pursue seriously until recently. By combining my creative talents with a passion for art and antiquities, I conceived the fictional world of the East London Adventurers Club. My first mystery, “Along Came A Fifer” is the result of these efforts. My family and I live in an historic community in southeastern Pennsylvania. Right now I’m busy working on the next mystery in this series- “Rook, Rhyme & Sinker”.

Praise for "Along Came A Fifer"-
Phillips, a Pennsylvania resident, does a fine job with his first mystery novel. The characters are relatable and dynamic. The novel has everything a mystery needs — humor, deception, unrequited love and, well, a good old-fashioned mystery.

A tip of the hat from Sherlock Holmes

Some of my earliest memories of reading center on the excitement I found in the pages of the Sherlock Holmes stories. I was just a lad, so I was forever looking up those huge words Sir Athur Conan Doyle used in his narratives with Holmes and Watson. I couldn't pronounce most of them, and I was quite sure they would never come up in conversations with my school mates, but I was determined to understand every aspect of the stories. Doyle made quite an impression on me, and that excitement has stay… Continue

Have You Hugged An Editor Lately?

It takes talent, patience and a skilled editor to make a good book great. This is a friendly reminder in an age of POD and the “you can’t get it out there fast enough” attitude. Don’t let the enthusiasm to see your name in print allow you to sidestep these three elements. Getting it out there fast might satisfy your ego, but the last time I checked, egos don’t buy books.

Here you are, two years of your life spent compiling the pages of your first novel. Think about all the research material pil… Continue

Are you on Facebook and LinkedIn?

I would like to connect with you there also. I am trying to make more friends and fans so that I can spread awareness for breast cancer during pregnancy. I was diagnosed Stage 3 in the 5th month of my pregnancy in May. My status updates on Facebook and LinkedIn are usually about my fight.
