The same with me. My site covers roughly 1775-1861 (the life of the Indian Agent who owned the home). So I have studied that period. My novel COPPERHEAD came out of that and my interest in the clash of the Native and European cultures, and Goodnight Robinson comes from what I learned of the Mexican War.

Thanks for the compliments on my covers (and art!)

Marla

PS I've been to Tombstone, but I bet it's been over 30 years!

Wow, you did the illustrations? Great job. I interpret the WWII home front, (but not that much anymore) and the 1880s Old West reenacting and storytelling down in Tombstone, Arizona. Check out my website at www.gaylemartin.net. It was my living history interpretive programs that inspired me to write my books.

Hi Marla:

I do living history interpreting too. It's a lot of fun. Also the illustrations on your book covers are fantastic. They look like they're either done in Prisma Color or pastels. I really like the look.

About Me and My Book:
I am an historical interpreter and as such my writing interests reflect my vocation - I write historicals with a romantic twist. Romance is not the central theme, but life is full of it and for every man there is a woman - propping him up! Available books are Copperhead, a tale set in 18th century South Carolina that takes its Indian hero from the colonies to England and back; Goodnight Robinson, a tale of love across time set in 21st century Ohio and 19th century California during the Mexican War, and My French Rebel: A Revolutionary Tale about a British General's daughter and her infatuation with a French rebel whose life she saves. Book Two of the General's daughter will be out shortly. The story takes place during the British occupation of Philadelphia and finds Charlotte Burington in prison for aiding the rebel cause.
