About Me and My Book:
Nine years ago the words in my imagination found their way onto paper, starting with children's poetry and growing into what it is today, a diverse mix of dancing trees, to the reality of war, from deep emotion to gentle humour, influenced both by my love of music and the natural world. I believe poetry should be accessible to all and one of my greatest joys is performing my poetry to a wide audience. As a healthcare worker I share my poetry through my work and many of my poems, designed and illustrated on the computer, adorn many a wall of establishments I have worked in.

Born in inner city Birmingham, I was always a daydreamer and from the age of five often took myself off on little adventures, much to the annoyance of my family! As an adult these adventures led me to live in various locations in England and the North East of Scotland. I now live in Bexhill-on-Sea, on the south coast of England.

From humble beginnings writing poetry has expanded my horizons. I now enjoy reading and discovering other poets, from the simplicity of John Clare to the war poetry of Wilfred Owen. It also led me to study for my GCSE English at the age of 46, gaining an A star!

My first book is out now; Words in Imagination is a book for all the family to share and enjoy - containing both childrens poetry and our wonderful world around us!

My website

My website has been updated (18 Oct 09) with new poems! Worth checking it out! Even if you have been before!
Look forward to 'seeing' you there!

I am thrilled to announce and reveal that I have sent to Helen at Silverwood books, a manuscript for my second book! We are aiming for spring 2010 for publication. The title is to be On Calico Wings (taken from the opening poem).

Below is a snippet of the synopsis;

'Firstly, a short explanation of how this book came to be, as I had initially planned two separate books - one on emotions and one on conflict poetry. However, on thinking long and hard on it, and by talking to Helen at Silverwood Books, I decided to combine them into one volume. My style of conflict poetry relates itself very strongly to the myriad of emotions conflict entails - so it made sense. At first, I was going to 'block' the book into Part one, Part two etc. Again after doing some thinking, I decided to make it more fluid than that, by having softer Italic headings for the different poetry as one 'travels' through the book.'
