About Me and My Book:
I have written five full-length novels, three fantasy novels, The Mystic Stone of the Tenth Realm, Gaea's Keeper and the sequel to The Stone of the Tenth Realm, Alchemist of the Tenth Realm, science fiction titled Post-Apocalyptic Genome, and Werewolf Sanctuary, a paranormal romance in my Wolf Maiden Chronicles. I just finished Beast Warrior, Book 2 in my Wolf Maiden Chronicles.
I have a BS in Zoology and graduate studies in Biology. I have taught Biology, Environmental Science and Anatomy/Physiology in both public and private high schools. My background in science and passion for wildlife biology inspires my writings. I moonlight as a faculty member of the Grey School of Wizardry, an online school for kids and adults interested in magic and lore. I am in the departments of Beast Mastery.
I am passionate about wildlife and the environment. I combined my love of animals and writing by being a guest speaker for the Silicon Valley Romance Writers last summer. My topic was on Wolves and Ravens as Archetypes in Science Fiction and Fantasy Writing. I also teach at The Grey School of Wizardry in the Department of Beast Mastery. I have also taught about animals in fiction workshops for the Hearts Through History Romance Group. I spend several weeks last summer doing volunteer work at a wolf sanctuary in Southern Oregon. All my life I have trained and worked with dogs and horses. I hope to soon pursue the ancient art of falconry.

I live in Northern California with my husband, two older children and an almost human Standard poodle.

I'd love to hear what you think of this excerpt from THE JOURNEY. It's in production as we speak.
They moved to a house on a non-working farm in Wolcott, VT. It was about 20 miles from the school. That was the coldest winter either of them had ever experienced. The floor was separated, and the wind could come right in. There was a small, inadequate wood stove for heat. To better insulate the walls our couple went to the local egg factory and were able to get enough twenty-four square egg cartons to staple to the walls, creating dead air space. They had two cats that went crazy when the field mice moved into the egg cartons. Not only did they create dead air space but also created a city of mice condominiums. Josh looked at a small hole in an egg case and saw a beady mouse eye looking back at him.
It was a very cold winter and the water pipes froze every morning. Josh or Kayla would go to the stream, chop through the ice and fill two buckets for drinking and washing. Then our champion crawled under the house with a propane torch to unfreeze the pipes. When that was done, he was covered in water that froze solid by the time he could walk around to the front of the house. He had to walk the last few steps like a frozen robot.
A lot of wood was needed for the wood stove. Josh would take the truck to the edge of the woods and then walk in with a chainsaw and the axe his blacksmith friend had given him. He cut tons of wood, and it was the healthiest winter he had ever experienced. Josh used to go cut wood wearing just a flannel shirt and was never cold. At the end of the day he would walk out to the truck, carrying the wood he had cut. It was an arduous task. Now visualize: the small farm had two cats, two young dogs, two goats and two Scottish Highlander cattle. Highlanders are beef cattle with short legs and long shaggy hair. They also have huge horns. From the edge of the woods Josh heard Kayla screaming “Joshua, hurry come quickly!” She was running three feet ahead of Bessie, the female Samish Highlander, looked like she was trying to gore her. Kayla jumped up on the hood of her Volkswagen, clambered to the roof and sat down cross-legged.
The dogs and goats ran to Josh and scrambled between his legs, almost knocking him over. He began to run to the house, and when he got there Bessie turned toward Josh. An eight-foot two by four was lying there so he picked it up, holding it horizontally. When Bessie came around the corner for him, he ran at her yelling loudly. She turned and Josh chased her around the house. When she got back to her pen, with her buddy watching she crawled under where she had gotten out. The crisis was over, and Josh immediately fixed the fence. Kayla was watching and came down from the roof of the car, walked over to him and said, “You saved me.” He got a nice reward for being her knight in shining armor.
One night she woke up crying. “What is it, honey?” Josh asked. “The mice are eating my underwear. I hear them chewing.” He told her if they are they’ll get new ones. Sure enough, her underwear had holes chewed in all the crotches. She was really upset. The next day after classes they went to the store, got new panties and bought plastic bags to store them in. That solved that problem.
The next calamity came the following night. It got so cold out they got seven blankets to cover themselves, and they couldn’t move an inch or they’d freeze. In the morning the toilet bowl water was frozen solid. It has to be really cold for that to happen. They decided to use the old outhouse. They would put the seat behind the wood stove at night. However, even if one really had to go, by the time the warm seat was in the outhouse it was freezing again.

I love your themes. I have a similar background in Life Sciences and che
mistry. I have written my first book The Journey which is fiction , but, based on my rather peculiar life. The theme underlying the different segments is physical, mental, and spiritual growth.
