About Me and My Book:
I have ADHD and was first diagnosed at the age of 37. With my experiences and what I have learned I published my memoir "One Boy's Struggle: A Memoir - Surviving Life with Undiagnosed ADD" It's more than a memoir as I share my hindsight with what I have learned to use as coping skills to become the fulfilled person I am today.

Hi Everyone,

I love marketing; it's a passion of mine. I am a Marketing Manager and Public Affairs Representative for a global organization, and of course, I have published my own book. My experience in marketing and public affairs has helped me get the word out about my book through my personal blog and other avenues. www.adderworld.com

Although my book is a memoir about my life living with ADHD, there is so much more to it than simply a retelling of my life. I have learned coping skills and have insight / hindsight which I know can help others. Hyper Focusing is a 'gift' of ADHD and I have used it to learn everything I can about our 'disorder'. One of the most popular articles about Michael Phelps on the internet, is an article I wrote about him and Hyper-Focusing, which you can find on my blog here.

The unique thing about ADHD is that we are all related in common tendencies, and unfortunately, also in many ways through our interactions with society as a whole. ADDers have a bad rap for being who we are, and in all honesty, ADHD is confusing for everyone, including those of us who have it. That's a very important issue in of its self and one of the reasons I felt compelled to write my book. I did not write to gain popularity or become rich, I wrote because there was a need and I felt compelled to fill it and that is a part of who I am. That my book has become popular and well received is a testament to the need, not just my writing, especially considering that I was forced out of school at the age of 16 and rarely ever had a passing grade to speak of. That's interesting too considering my IQ was frequently between 120 -140. ADHD has very little to do with one's IQ.

My book is self published and looking back thus far, I am glad I went that route. I have much more freedom in the way I market and present my book – not to mention all the rights are mine. I have an offer to have my memoir made into a movie, so we will see where that goes too.

By involving the local community, authors, publishers, editors, journalists and all forms of the literary world, we are opening their minds and bringing hope where there was doubt.
Scribblers’ Retreat is not the typical classroom setting. It was designed to bring world-class authors, literature professors, editors, journalists, illustrators, photo journalists, proofreaders, publishers, publicists, screenplay writers, and website/graphic designers, etc. one-on-one with young and old alike. It is the opportunity of a lifetime for someone who has had a manuscript in a desk drawer for 40 years or who has an outstanding poem that simply must be read.
