The Moonlit Path purports to be the journal of Katherine Willard, a 32-year-old artist and gardener living in Oakland, California, for the year 1914. It plunges readers pretty deeply into life in 1914, as Katherine is living it. It also provides 19124 perspectives on many issues that still trouble us today, including racism, immigration, the status of women, and the feeling that sometimes technologies are spinning through our lives at a rather dizzying rate. I’m a longtime writer, photographer, journalist, and poet who has crossed the country many times on motorcycles and who writes a Sunday column for the Las Cruces Sun-News. I’ve also wandered through China, Tibet, Peru and Mexico, driven a New York City taxi, and practiced law.
