About Me and My Book:
My debut novel JANEOLOGY is about a man's search for answers after his wife, Jane, snaps and drowns their toddler son. The work explores the question: how much do nature and nurture shape a person's violent impulses?

Office Space meets Cinderella?

Got 60 seconds? That's the amount of time it would take to read the daily installments of CORPORELLA: An Office Space meets Cinderella tale set in the tough-as-(manicured)-nails Texas cosmetics industry. This is one of many of my screenplays and I though I would serialize it on my blog throughout the month of June. It's not Tolstoy, but if you've ever worked in a cubicle, this story has something for you. Stop by www.scobberlotch.blogspot.com… Continue

Along Route 66

I just returned from a road trip from Texas to Illinois, crossing through Oklahoma and Missouri on the way. Much of this trip took us along Route 66. As any seasoned road-tripper knows, one passes ancient gas stations and Greyhounds. (We called them Road Dawgs when I worked there.) Truckers and trains. Red barns in various stages of beautiful decay. Yawning green pastures dotted with all forms of newly born animals. Fruit stands selling local plums and peaches. Waterways with names like Honey Cr… Continue

Behind the book: What drives a writer toward her subject?

I frequently get asked what prompted me to write a story about a mother who kills. It's a fair question. (And if you do own a pair of banana peel shoes, I mean no disrespect, but I hope you have good insurance.) Ultimately, I did write about the subject of maternal filicide, but not without a good bit of trepidation. Though JANEOLOGY is set in motion by this troubling… Continue

Short, Short, Short Story Contest - Win a copy of JANEOLOGY

Janeology just received a 5 Bolt review from the New Mystery Reader. Woo! To celebrate the event, I have a couple first edition, signed, hardback copies of Janeology to give away to my most creative friends. All you have to do to prove your creativity is write a ten word story about a dysfunctional family. (See, Jane’s family is pretty dysfunctional so, well, you get the idea.) It can’t be under ten words. It… Continue

Hi, how are you? Your book sounds amazing. Have you considered advertising in The Perfect Guest Report. Check it out at www.perfectguestreport.com. I think you could garner a lot of publicity for your book without spending a lot of time and money.
