About Me and My Book:
Let there be no doubt about it, Ron Adams loves a good story. As a child growing up around an extended family, he learned to appreciate the stories told by his great grandfather of “the old days” in Boston, of the family histories related by his grandparents. The family genealogy was brought to life by his aunt. And then there was the odd assortment of characters that always seemed to be around his parents home. Priests, cops, bar owners, bikers, Marines, cross country hitchhiking cousins, and even international animal rescue workers all provided their own unique stories, and a base for his imagination. From his great grandfather, he also developed a love of reading, which became a lifelong desire to become a writer.

Ron has taken this varied background and written poetry for his college yearbook, and has published articles based on his experiences in his ‘day job’ as a physical therapist. Based on a lifetime of colorful individuals and a love of the mystery and crime fiction genre, he published his first novel, Lake Effect, in 2003. He is active in several online writing communities, including the Western New York Writers group and Thriller Authors group on bookmarket.ning.com, and the Authors Lounge group on Bebo.com.

Born and raised in Massachussetts, Ron Adams graduated from Daemen College in Amherst, New York in 1983. He has called Buffalo and the western New York area home for over twenty years. Currently he lives in Hamburg, New York with his wife, Trish, and two children.

In Key Lime Squeeze, mob princess Angela Cantolino-Boothby wants her runaway husband back. So do her brothers, the kingpins of the Cantolino crime family, as well as a host of dubious characters. Buffalo P.I. Joe Banks heads to the Florida Keys to find Robert Boothby, and soon learns that all these people aren’t just missing Robert’s charming personality. Will Banks get caught in the squeeze?

Official Apex Reviews Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

The typical way the story goes is: boy meets girl, boy falls for girl, boy marries girl, boy spends the rest of his life to make girl happy…

In the case of Key Lime Squeeze, add to all that the following: girl is a mafia princess, boy joins the criminal enterprises of girl's family, boy steals from girl's family, boy soon flees for his life with killer hit men in tow…

With equal parts suspense, drama, and wit, Ronald Adams has crafted a superb crime thriller in Key Lime Squeeze. Tight action coupled with pointed dialogue & colorful characters make this story an enjoyable, fast-paced read with many surprising twists along the way.

Robert Boothby, a milquetoast insurance executive, has the great fortune of marrying the alluring, seductive Angela Cantolino. Unfortunately for him, her beauty (and every other part of her) comes with a considerable price – one that Robert soon finds too high to pay. So, her turns to cyberspace in search of true love and affection, where he meets a mysterious stranger who soon has him so enraptured that he decides to leave Angela and his mundane life behind. So convinced of the bliss that awaits him, he makes off with over a million dollars of ill-gotten funds that he's secretly pilfered from Angela's crime family – who, ironically, was stealing it from Robert's own company with his help.

Thus enters Joe Banks, famed private investigator, who is recruited by the Cantolino family to pursue Robert and recover the stolen funds. Accompanying him is the Cantolinos' trusted enforcer, Solomon, who tags along for good measure to ensure that the job is done – and done well. What Joe and Solomon don't realize, though, is that the Cantolinos believe in hedging all their bets, and the duo soon encounters more than their fair share of surprises – coming in the form of a host of shady characters – in the heated hunt for Robert. What was once a simple recovery operation soon becomes a tortuous ordeal so dangerous that Joe & Solomon's own lives – not to mention that of Joe's family – are soon caught up in the mix.

Key Lime Squeeze is an action-packed thrill ride that renders the term "page-turner" an understatement. Adams is a gifted storyteller whose penchant for detail enlivens each plot twist with just the right amount of suspense and intrigue. Also, his biting sense of humor shines through as the perfect counterweight to the dramatic tension framing each chapter with effortless subtlety.

The second installment in the Joe Banks Series, Key Lime Squeeze is an exciting addition to the world of suspense thrillers. Perfect for new and old fans alike.

Key Lime Squeeze Reviewed by Steven Clark Bradley

Book Review: Key Lime Squeeze by Ron W. Adams Author Ron Adams has taken readers into the world of the sleuth with his excellent and crafty new novel, Key Lime Squeeze. Ron is an artful painter with words as he takes the reader into a sinister world that is really not exactly a hard-boiled crime drama and not exactly a story of the mafia, but a fine and adroitly woven tale that is both familiar and unique. It is indeed a book that I found to be riveting and which kept me asking myself what I th… Continue

When Insults Had Class

Once upon a time, before the advent of the two word insult ending in 'you', There were those who's pride in language and articulation made the art of the insult worth the effort. To those who enjoy the classics, I submit the following: He has all the virtues I dislike and none of the vices I admire. -- Winston Churchill I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure.-- Clarence Darrow He has never been known to use a word that might send a reader to the diction… Continue

Six Mistakes Even Bestselling Authors Make

Many of us belong to several book and discussion groups, and the benefit to that is that we get to hear from authors and experts in a wide variety of fields. This message came to me from David Montgomery, who writes about books for several major publications. According to the message he sat in on a talk given by bestselling thriller writer Joseph Finder the topic of which was "The Six Biggest Mistakes Even Bestselling Writers Make." It’s also worth noting that when I shared this with my editor a… Continue

Variety is the spice of (writing) life

Which genre any writer chooses to operate in is dependent on the genre they enjoy. I write predominately in the mystery/detective genre because I am such a big fan of Robert B. Parker’s Spenser and Jessie Stone, Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum, and Raymond Chandler’s Philip Marlowe. But it is a great exercise for the good writer to able to write across genres even though he may never have the opportunity to use this versatility. Many stories have the ability to cross or mix genres, so that a hi… Continue

Dialogue vs. Narrative

At their most basic, stories have two elements: Dialogue and Narrative. Narrative also has two main purposes: to inform the reader and to describe a person, place or thing. Funny thing is, done right, so does Dialogue. Many times the dialogue between characters can give you as much if not more information about your characters and thier plight as any narrative. My editor punctuated my last novel with comment regarding this very topic, and I began to learn very quickly getting the right balance b… Continue

Hi Ron,
Thanks for your e-mail. I ma so happy you likes the novel. I think it really says a lot about the world we live in today. Your opinion is very valued.

I am reading your book and love it too. Love the cover on your novel! I was in Nikki Leigh's book tour all of February and had to slow down on my own writing and reading. But, I am back to it and promise to reciprocate and write your review. Hope you do not mind waiting a bit longer. I am excited to have your review. I have pasted two links for both Amazon and Barnes and Noble below where you can post it and if you could send me a copy on my e-mail and I'll post it on my blogs too. I would like to feature your book on my blogs also. I am getting some good traffic at my blogs and could be good for you. I'll be back to you with a review of your book too very soon. Thanks!
