- Sam G. Stolzoff is a cultural consultant with four years of “boots on the ground” experience in Iraq. He is currently assigned to a Special Mission Unit in Iraq, where has worked since July of 2006. During his work with the SMU, Mr. Stolzoff, along with two of his co-workers, pioneered a tribal engagement strategy that was implemented successfully to neutralize an insurgent network in 2007. Subsequently, Mr. Stolzoff began and completed a non-funded, independent tribal study which resulted in the creation of The Iraqi Arab Tribal Matrix™ (TIATM), which serves as a more comprehensive tribal analytical tool, as it consists of 82 main Arab tribes and over 4490 sub tribal units arranged alphabetically and hierarchically. TIATM enables heretofore unavailable political, cultural, and counterinsurgency tribal analysis that is unprecedented. Prior to his service as a cultural consultant, Mr. Stolzoff served in 66th MI Co., 3rd Squadron, 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment. During his military service, he was deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom I in 2003, and Operation Iraqi Freedom III in 2005, both of which lasted for one year. Mr. Stolzoff is fluent in Arabic, both spoken and written. When tested in 2006, he scored 3+/3+ on the Language Learning Enterprises Arabic Speaking and Listening Test, and 11/12 on the Alta Arabic Speaking and Listening Test. Mr. Stolzoff has operated in an Arabic speaking environment continuously from 2006 to the present.
