I'm a writer of many things but current project is a mystery series. First in the series is published and I'm writing on #2....have also edited a poetry book for another publisher, and co-authored with four other women a book about journeys women make in their lives and how similar our paths are. My first mystery novel is titled, "The Mystery of David's Bridge" and was published in 2004 by Hilliard & Harris Publishers - it's also available from Amazon, et al.

Hi Susan....nice to meet you. Yep - you know where I am out here in horse country! I'm familiar with both Manassas and Culpeper of course - and have lived in the deep south too - Selma, Alabama many years ago when my Dad was stationed at Craig Air Force Base. Anyway, thanks for the compliments on my cat Sam - he's quite the character. Sounds like you have quite a "crew" with cats and dogs. Sam's the only "child" I have and he's spoiled rotten......he sits on my desk while I'm writing and occasionally reaches out and jabs the keyboard to add his thoughts...LOL

We used to be "neighbors" - well, relatively speaking, that is ... I lived in Manassas Park for 2 years before moving to a farm in Culpeper for a year ... I've now moved back to the deep South - but, I actually am familiar with Warrenton.

Beautiful cats!

I'm "owned" by three cats (and three dogs).

Hello Pamela. It's nice to have you for a friend. Thank you for the compliments. Next time you visit my website I'm hoping it will be the new one. We've been working on the redesign for a few weeks and are almost done. Can't wait! It's going to be so much easier to see all that is there. OOOh! I love a good mystery. That takes a great talent to write!

I really do intend to visit my hometown one of these days Katie......we've been to the Irish Stud Farm on a trip to Ireland a couple of years ago - that's a gorgeous place too. Talk about rolling hills of green! But then the whole country is like that. One of these days I'll get to Louisville though. I'd love to go to the Derby and there's only one place to do that!! Have a good day yourself........

Hello Aidana - thanks for visiting and asking about new projects. I am writing my second mystery book for my publisher but unfortunately they do all their own covers. I'm "theirs" for another few years sadly. At least they used my idea for the cover of my first book - I'd sent them my own painting of a covered bridge here in my area but they didn't use it - would have been nice to have my own artwork on the cover! I've visited your site (here and elsewhere) and I love your work......you are very very talented. It's nice to meet you.

Marketing isn't my favorite thing but it seems to be a very necessary evil. If we don't get out there and let people see us and talk to us and learn about our books then we get lost in the pile of published work that sits in distributors warehouses everywhere. I have been able to get my book into book stores by going in and meeting the managers and arranging for a signing there. People DO like to meet writers - fortunately! I also go to large signing venues such as the one held in Waynesboro, Virginia (and now some other states) every year through the Book 'Em Foundation. I've sold a LOT of books at that particular event. The Foundation (which is a pro-literacy effort) now has events in North Carolina and in New England.....you can check them out on their website at http://bookemfoundation.org.

Also there are a lot of book clubs around - they love to have visiting authors AND they generally buy your book either before you appear or at the event where you are appearing......it's just a matter of finding a time and a place to show off your books. With as many varied genres as you write, you probably have a LOT of opportunities open to you! Good luck.

Hi Pamela, thanks for the comment. My books are quite varied and on different subjects. I'm going to get on marketing this year as I haven't really tried very hard to do anything with it. I don't care much for book signings but guess I'll have to get used to them if I want to sell the books. Just sitting on a website isn't selling like I d hoped they would....

I like mysteries as well as romance for the fiction field....and yours sound pretty good..... Shirley

Hi, Pamela,
Is the second mystery you're working on a sequel? I notice you said, "#2" in the series, but the first was published awhile back. I, too, am busy on "#2" in a series, and I wish you all the best,
Blessings,
Linore
