About Me and My Book:
I have been an avid reader and writer of science fantasy adventure and a fan of genre films since 1964. I have a particular interest in history and mythology. I write in a strong visual style that brings the reader into my fictional world with room for the reader's own imagination, ever with the mission to educate as well as entertain.

I write SF/F books in a series titled "Children of The Dragon". It is a chronicle of the Xosan, humanoid vampires from the planet Antellus who were once human but were transformed by a dragon's blood. They are adventures of action, espionage, horror, romance, science fact and fantasy set in a universe as real as the reader's own intermixed with real historical events. These books are rated M/R for violence, adult content and blood. I create my own illustrations and book covers in acrylics on illustration board, and have a series of art prints for sale.

Change Is In the Air...

The last couple of weeks have been significantly interesting as I worked to get my titles moved to both CreateSpace and LSI. For one thing, the file dimensions for the covers were vastly different from what I was working with before, and as I can only generate RGB image files it was touch and go whether I could use them for pdf files. Finally, LSI generously corrected the revisions for me as I told them what the problems were. In theory, most of my books should be up and ready to order through L… Continue

If I Knew Then What I Know Now...

Well, it appears that the divorce from Lulu is final, for me at least. I just put all but one of my books up on Amazon's Kindle platform, and I sold about 20 copies (one or more of each) in 24 hours. This versus one book in three months. Kindle users were starving for new books, poor babies, and I was very surprised at the reaction. Meanwhile, I am working with Lightning Source directly and I found out that I did not have to set up the titles like a new user. I just have to pay for the revisions… Continue

Publishing Divorce Can Be a Messy Business

Okay, if you want to keep your books in circulation, you have to pay close attention to the details. In order to expedite things, I had to report Lulu to the BBB. I'm not the only one, and I don't like to do something like this, but Lulu was intractible. Not only that, they finally admitted that they really had no control over the book distribution process. It's one thing to declare that you can set it up, but quite another when you want to take it down. Because of their lack of control, they to… Continue

Avanti! More Adventures in the Publishing World

I have been in communication with Lightning Source, Inc., the distributor Lulu has been using with its enormous printing resource. It will take a little more money to establish my account with them but that may pay off in the long term as it becomes a direct link between Ikthalion Press and booksellers. This is what I wanted to do in the first place but did not know how to do it at the time. The set-up charge is reasonable, and the printing cost per unit ordered is phenomenally lower than Lulu's… Continue

Welcome,

Please feel free to explore BiblioScribe.com for free book marketing tools such as press releases as well as free article submissions. As I have just finished a 'Tale of Two Cities' and now currently half-way through the unabridged Count of Monte Cristo, I look forward to your WRITTEN IN BLOOD, as it seems to be the era of my current book interests.

Regards,
James Ward

Hi TM

Welcome to the network. I like the look of your books. I read Five Rings (translated by Thomas Cleary) a while back. I would like a look at your translation. Is it available in the UK?

Hope you find this forum useful :0)

regards

Roy
