Multi-Author Blogs

My personal website's blog gets meh traffic, despite some attempt at promoting...so lately I've been guesting and contributing to some multi-author blogs for promotion.

I'm thinking of starting one of these for MysteryAuthors.com, and I wanted to get some opinions.

Do any of you do multi-author blogs? What's been your experience with this? Do you feel they help book promotion? Have their been any drawbacks to multi-author blogs vs. your personal blog?

Appreciate any and all comments...

I think they are a great form of cross-promotion, as long as they don't supersede your own blog. I've done guest posts on various multi-author blogs, and although they generate some extra traffic, I don't know about doing it on a regular or set basis. What techniques have you tried for promoting your blog? You say you don't get much traffic - how much is not much? Are you optimizing your blog and posts? Just curious. How much traffic are you expecting? Have you researched how many searches are done per day on your targeted keywords? All of these could play in.
