Boost your website ranking to promote your book

We all know that having a good pagerank is key for people to find your book/website/blog when they do a search on Google or Yahoo or MSN. How does one get their site to come up in the top 10 search results? Well, besides having good content the biggest factor is the number and quality of backlinks one has pointing to your site. The more you have, the higher pagerank you get. Besides exchanging links with friends or associates, the three biggest ways to get backlinks are Web Directories, Press Release sites, and Article Directory sites. Not only will these types of sites give you exposure, but they will give you a backlink pointing to your site/blog.

I've put together a list of over 400+ Web Directory, Press Release, and Article Directory sites that you can submit to and increase your pagerank. Your list is amazing. I have found web directories on your list that I never knew existed. Your list of article directories and press release sites is also impressive. I especially plan on using the web directory information and having the page rank of the site is a great advantage. I have been submitting articles for quite some time and have found my exposure has greatly increased. My name can be found both with quotation marks and without on over 70% of the first ten pages of google. My backlinks and search engine exposure has also increased significantly for my site. The quantity has a trend with increasing numbers. Also on www.alexa.com my exposure has been greatly improved.

Hey thanks a lot! I will check this out and give it a whirl! Thank you for offering this type of information for other authors. It is very hard to promote books ourselves, esp when we have to do it alone. That is why I also have my own site for giving tips on writing, editing, promoting, and more but since I am still learning, there really isn't that much there just yet lol. I know the information is out there so it really helps when there are people like you who provide it for free for writers like me lol. Thank you very very much!

Yes, I understand, authors already have tons of work to do. The resources up there now are long-term ones that will boost your pagerank over a period of several months and keep it there. I recommend doing a few things each day, such as Bill Frank says, so that you don't get overwhelmed.

I'm also thinking of posting information on how "duplicate content" works, how to do article marketing smartly to long-term results from a writers point of view, sites where you can list your book for free, etc. If anyone has suggestions on what they want to see, let me know and I will prioritize those topics.

Peter- I, too, very much appreciate the list although I must tell you the first two or three sites require$. It's not always clear at first, so you spend time on the site and at the end you see they want a credit card #. It was a little frustrating. If there was a way to cull through them and put a $ sign next to the ones requiring payment, that would be very helpful. Please know I am not complaining, just offering a suggestion.
