Holiday Planning and Marketing

What are you doing for the holiday season in regards to marketing your books? Are you doing any special promotion campaigns? If so, share!

We have lined up book signings until Christmas for the "Mama Peavy says" book. We've done pretty well at these book signings mostly at Borders/Waldenbooks and Barnes & Noble stores selling anywhere from 15 to 20 books per signing and usually selling out. So, with so many people buying books we decided to do a holiday card postcard. We're going to give each person that buys a book during the signing stamped postcards with a Holiday Message on the front to send to friends and family. The back of the postcards have a small cover of the book and a short note encouraging others to buy the book as a gift. The only thing the consumers have to do is add an address and a personal message (optional) and drop in the mail. Postcards are cheap at GotPrint.com (5,000 for $99) and postage for postcards are at a reduced rate. The campaign is only going to cost us between $300-500. And it just may create some buzz for the holiday shopping season.

Hey, Nicole, brilliant idea!
What about some joint-venturing? I'm releasing a 2008 edition of my Christmas ebook,( which will find a publisher for print one day), but I love to give bonuses to my customers. I am open to any good Christmas related electronic (downloadable) gifts. Could be a report, short story, Christmas hints and tips, Victorian Christmas-related, or, especially Regency related. My book is "Regency House Christmas: The Definitive Guide to a Remarkably Regency Yuletide!" It includes fashion, history, recipes, poetry, short stories, lavish illustrations, and eight separate downloadable ebooks within in. Anyone interested? Perhaps a good excerpt that makes a complete story in itself could be a gift for my buyers, and will give you exposure and a place to advertise your other products/books, also. (G rated only, family-friendly). Don't be shy, drop me a line! I'd love to help get the word out about your great resource.

You absolutely cannot ignore the big shopping season coming up. You have to do some sort of campaign or promotions to generate more buzz for your book and ensure you make some decent sells. I think everyone on the network can easily sell 100 books this holiday season with a little planning and a lot of motivation!

So, let's bounce ideas around.
