I recently had a very productive strategy session with an author who I’ve admired for a long time, but never had the chance to work with personally. She hired me to basically help her revive her book’s marketing campaign for 2009.
Noticing that she has become fatigued with promoting her book around the country this past year, she was ready for some advice on what she could do to make money and sell more books without traveling so much. Within an hour we were able to map out an exciting new plan that took much of her promotional efforts online and created a plan that would help her save money.
I can’t share everything we talked about in our private session, but I wanted to share with you some of the amazing strategies you can use this winter to increase your book promotion and aviod burnout.
1.
Use Teleseminars to Build your Platform without leaving the house. Teleseminars are a wonderful book marketing tool. About a year ago I took Teleseminars Secrets and Virtual Book Tour Secrets with my mentor Alex Mandossian. This powerful technique has made me thousands of dollars, added names to my list and increased my visiblity in the market place. Teleseminars are something you should be doing even if your book isn’t published yet. What can you do with teleseminars:
-Create your own Virtual Book Tour
-Add podcasts to your blog
-Interview experts in your niche.
-Turn your book into an infoproduct by speaking your book or having someone interview you about your book. If you want to learn how to create profit producing teleseminars sign up for this 3 hour training with Alex Mandossian for only $20 bucks!

2.
Stop telling the same story. If you’re an author who has been talking about the same 5 points or steps in from you book then stop. Create a new story. Come up with some new anecdotes and give a new perspective about your book.
3.
Find new audience. I have a client who wasn’t finding much success promoting on myspace. She now promotes heavily on several different NING sites related to her target market and the results have been amazing.
4.
Get out of your comfort zone. If you’ve been doing all of your promotion online. Get out of the house and start speaking in front of groups of your target market. Network, talk to people and get some feedback. Start a
WOM campaign. Get excited about promoting your book again and watch your sales and visibility increase.
