Heart of Stone
When Amber Wilson shows up at Brandon Cattle Ranch alone and pregnant, she has little recollection of the night she conceived. Distorted images of someone on top of her, pawing her, are the only memories of that fateful night. One thing she knows for sure--no man will get that close to her again.
Stone Brandon greets her at the door and is struck by her vulnerability, but her condition brings back painful memories for him. His heart has been hardened by deceipt and betrayal. Now all he wants is to get his trust fund and improve the ranch. One codicil blocks him. He has to marry first.
Amber gets under his skin, puts minute cracks in the wall around his heart. He decides a marriage in name only will help him get his trust fund and give her and the baby stability. It's a win/win situation, to his way of thinking.
He soon learns that a platonic marriage with Amber is a hell of his own making. To keep his mind off of her lying in the bed next to him, he embarks on a mission to find the man who hurt her.
