DEAD of KNIGHT Is A Jack Staal Mystery:
Your next birthday could be murder!

Ah marketing! How I hate it! I think most writers do.
Marketing oneself as a writer. It does make one feel like a bit of a prostitute at times, no doubt about it. Not only do we have to have good imaginations these days, the ability to come up with plots and actually take months to write them down, take the abuse of publishers and their numerous rejections, but we have to do so much more! I finished Ms. Lahiri's collection of short stories (Interpreter of Maladies) during the long July 4th holiday weekend and all I can say is Wow. Lahiri's writing is full of really sensual details along with a set of characters that feel very real, very three dimensional, particularly in their emotional lives and connections with one another. The very first story in the book, A Temporary Problem, is so surprising and quite intense while dealing with its charged emotional material very subtly.

We've finished the teacher's guide and the student workbook, and now all that remains is to write our short book on writing short stories. This will be for the use of the person conducting the creative writing course that we plan to sell at the California Homeschool Network show at the end of this month. I'm excited!
