Scribblers’ Retreat is a non-profit organization established with the goal of reaching writers of all ages; to inspire and promote their hidden gifts and talents.
By involving the local community, authors, publishers, editors, journalists and all forms of the literary world, we are opening their minds and bringing hope where there was doubt.
Scribblers’ Retreat is not the typical classroom setting. It was designed to bring world-class authors, literature professors, editors, journalists, illustrators, photo journalists, proofreaders, publishers, publicists, screenplay writers, and website/graphic designers, etc. one-on-one with young and old alike. It is the opportunity of a lifetime for someone who has had a manuscript in a desk drawer for 40 years or who has an outstanding poem that simply must be read.

You asked me to tell you more about FL Writers Assn. We have a big group in your county with group leader, Freda Gower Ward. Here's the meeting info from www.floridawriters.net
Pinellas Group meets the second Thursday of each month from 5:30 - 8:00 p.m. at the Main Library at 3745 Ninth Avenue N. every month throughout 2008, EXCEPT March when we’ll meet the first Thursday.
Hope this helps.

Hi Janet,

I think you may be interested in FL Writers Assn.
It's a wonderful group for learning, networking, and submitting work to the quarterly magazine. It's actually not only for Florida any more. We have national and even a few international members!

If you'd like to check it out, please come to http://www.floridawriters.net.

I also run the FL Authors online group at bookmarket. You can join it, regardless of your FWA affiliation.

Have a good weekend,
Shara

Hi, Janet.
I thought you might be interested to learn that my book of Old Testament stories, "How Often Would I Have Gathered You," was last week awarded an "Our History--Our Heritage Publication Award" by the League of Utah Writers. This is very exciting, for now all refences to my book can refer to it an "award winning book."

I admire the work you are doing. It says much about your faith and your devotion to an excellent cause.

Best regards,

Val

I'm currently writing a series on www.religionandspirituality.com about the power of my mother's transition, wake, and funeral. The columns seem to have triggered something in thousands of people.

Hi, Janet. Thanks for accepting my invitation. I look forward to further communication. I looked at the "religionandspirituality" web site--found it interesting. You may no that a lot of people do not believe that member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are Christians because we have a different view of God that that prescribed by the creeds. My book, "How Often Would I Have Gathered You," will those who are interested an inside peak at our understanding of the Old Testament and its significance in a modern (if I can use that word) world. We have great advances in everything except in our relationships with each other. In this area, we are still in the dark ages, with little hope of getting out very soon unless we can start keeping Christ's "new commandment" to "love one another as I have loved you."

Best of luch with your work.
Val
