About Me and My Book:
I was born in New Zealand where I grew up and studied at University. Having qualified as a lawyer I then embarked on travels around the world before settling in London where I practised as a lawyer for nearly 25 years, specialising in construction, employment and human rights law.

In my spare time I travelled widely taking workshops, seminars and giving lectures on many diverse subjects from matters of personal, planetary and global change, to children’s education, to gender relations and many other related topics. In 2008 I published my first book called: Who Owns the Future?

In 2006 I moved to Ireland where I now live and further my work in these areas whilst also working as an eclectic mix of writer, consultant, trainer, facilitator, farmer and mediator. You can find out more about my mediator / trainer / facilitator /consultant work at www.tsolutions.eu.

Who Owns the Future?

With the world being inundated with facts and statistics about everything from global warming and climate change to GM food to energy and resource crises to poverty and alienation it is easy to be swamped and overcome by the seeming uncertainty and apparent impossibility of it all.

This book merges themes of environmentalism, philosophy, science, psychology, language, sociology, metaphysics, religion, gender relationships, politics, poverty, population and much more towards finding frameworks about how the human race can address the awesome challenges facing it both now and into the future.

The book pulls no punches about the peril of our current situation, but essentially offers an optimistic and realistic view of the future based on the premise that the human race can successfully change and adapt its behaviour in order to survive and flourish.
The question is however, will it make those changes?
And, will you?

Where is the Rest of the Universe?

As you may or may not know 96% of the Universe is "missing". Please kindly check your cupboards to see if you are unwittingly hiding some of it. Thank you!

OK so scientists can't explain why the Universe is expanding at an accelerating rate rather than slowing down as you would expect, so they have come up with the idea of dark matter and dark energy to explain it.
There's no proof of either, but it's a nice idea and helps justify spending billions on Hadron Colliders that might blow us all up,… Continue

Copenhagen - Success or Failure?

Having been in Copenhagen for some of the COP15 process over the last two weeks and watching like everyone else the - will they, won't they - charade played out by the world's leaders one is forced to ask the question - did the Conference end in abject failure or was it in fact a success?

It is hard to see the Conference as being any kind of success, but then that depends on how we define success and what eyes we use to look at the gathering with.

Yes, of course we all hoped that the world's p… Continue

Are We Missing the Point Here?

OK so next week COP15 kicks off in Copenhagen and although Barack Obama is now attending the signs are that no binding agreements are going to be reached about lowering emissions. I hope I am wrong but the signs aren't looking great at the moment. So will it be another bout of rhetoric, protectionism, silo mentalities, reality denials and posturing?

Well maybe, because I am going for some of it so look out for me there! :)
See:… Continue

Who Owns the Future? Climate Change Beyond Copenhagen!

Hi Folks

I hope I have managed to attach a poster for this event to coincide with the COP15 event in Copenhagen given my very limited computer skills!

We couldn't get to do the event in Copenhagen itself due due to security so we had to go over the bridge into Sweden 20 minutes away and do it there! Who are those guys???

Anyway it should be a blast so spread the word if you know anyone in that area.
There is a rumour that Obama might come but then given the fact that I started that rumour mys… Continue

UK Plays Ostrich

In the last few weeks the UK Government has announced that it has given the green light for 10 more nuclear stations to be built to help cover energy supply over the next 30 to 50 years and help lower its CO2 emissions. Or so they say.

Well done team, you have once again shown impeccable leadership where denial of the realities is concerned.

Firstly, the building nuclear power stations doesn't lower CO2 emissions because if one looks at the the amount of CO2 emissions incurred in building the… Continue
