Around The Insurmountable Mountain

The 'insurmountable mountain' all of us seem to face is time . . . time to give all these hundreds of marketing sites time and still have time to write and live up to the other countless demands on our time by all the responsibilities in our lives.

I have met so many nice and interesting writers in places like this and its many counterparts. Everyday my email box is filled with messages of friend invites, comments made here and there, and information on other authors' work and webs

The Insurmountable Mountain

It struck me this morning that all we authors are standing before an insurmountable mountain. It exists in this physical realm, as does everything, for a purpose. This mountain exists to force us all into finding a new path around it. A new philosophy of life, perhaps. Or, a recognition of a philosophy already in place since the beginning of Creation. A Natural Law that forms the foundation of existing in a Web of Life.

Quite a lofty thought to face one so early in the day. I'll ponder

Are you on Facebook and LinkedIn?

I would like to connect with you there also. I am trying to make more friends and fans so that I can spread awareness for breast cancer during pregnancy. I was diagnosed Stage 3 in the 5th month of my pregnancy in May. My status updates on Facebook and LinkedIn are usually about my fight.

Scribblers’ Retreat is a non-profit organization established with the goal of reaching writers of all ages; to inspire and promote their hidden gifts and talents.
By involving the local community, authors, publishers, editors, journalists and all forms of the literary world, we are opening their minds and bringing hope where there was doubt.
Scribblers’ Retreat is not the typical classroom setting. It was designed to bring world-class authors, literature professors, editors, journalists, illustrators, photo journalists, proofreaders, publishers, publicists, screenplay writers, and website/graphic designers, etc. one-on-one with young and old alike. It is the opportunity of a lifetime for someone who has had a manuscript in a desk drawer for 40 years or who has an outstanding poem that simply must be read.

Hello Susan,
It was nice hearing from you today. I too have been quite busy and haven't had time to visit and leave messages here.
Oh the life of an editor, we seem to be in the same boat because I am editing and rewriting a story for a client too at the moment. It is a biggie and quite interesting. One thing for sure, we do run across some very interesting story tellers from all over the world. My latest client is currently from Africa. I can honestly say, it is good to be working.
Until the next time, have a great and blessed day. Lets see who will finish first with our projects. (smile)

Susan,

Thank you for your response. It appears our approaches are very similar. I'm a first time writer trying to help others. I'm not seeking to make a living off of it. I'm new and hoping to learn as much as I can about the process. I'll check out your site and contact you again. I certainly need the help and am very willing to help others. Strangely enough, this is the primary concept in my book, except it is for those in the corporate world. I look forward to serving you and your group.

Kindest Regards,
Todd

I typically invite authors, as many as possible, to gain from their experience. I find the same thing you do. I would guess about 2% actually engage in productive support of each other's efforts. I do connect with authors with the intent that we will share knowledge and help each other obtain more success. I do buy books from other authors (only if the sign them for me).

Your point is well made though. Why use social networking just to increase your number of connections? I don't. I try to find those who can and will support me. Of course, I offer my support in return. I believe that since we fail to help each other, we are passing up on the opportunity to achieve greater success. As Oprah and Wayne Dyer put it, "success is achieved through service to others."

Kindest Regards,
Todd
