Scribblers’ Retreat is a non-profit organization established with the goal of reaching writers of all ages; to inspire and promote their hidden gifts and talents.
By involving the local community, authors, publishers, editors, journalists and all forms of the literary world, we are opening their minds and bringing hope where there was doubt.
Scribblers’ Retreat is not the typical classroom setting. It was designed to bring world-class authors, literature professors, editors, journalists, illustrators, photo journalists, proofreaders, publishers, publicists, screenplay writers, and website/graphic designers, etc. one-on-one with young and old alike. It is the opportunity of a lifetime for someone who has had a manuscript in a desk drawer for 40 years or who has an outstanding poem that simply must be read.

Check out my latest blog post to read about my newest cover design, read the latest book review and find out how to attend my first book signing for the JGDS (Junior Geography Detective Squad) children's mystery state book series (signing as illustrator of course).

Here is the cover for the second book in the series just to tempt you further...

The interview went very well. We got in pretty deep with soe issues about business ethics and social change--much deeper than the usual radio interview. It's archived at http://kgnu.org/ht/listings.html?show=Metro (click on July 11, and then wait for the newscast to be over).

You asked if Grassroots Marketing for Authors and Publishers will be useful to fiction writers. Yes, definitely. I'm married to a novelist. I will say that probably nonfiction writers will find more in the book, but you should find plenty. As one example: the sample press releases include three novels and a children's book.

The Last Harry Potter: An Ethicist's Perspective (I won't spoil the surprise)

Both as a long-time fan of the series and as someone who writes regularly about ethics both in my blog and in my award-winning sixth book, Principled Profit: Marketing That Puts People First, I want to talk for a minute about Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

There's so much I could say about this latest (and final) Harry Potter boo… Continue

Book Marketing Newsletter to Launch July 25

I had said some time back that I would launch a monthly newsletter on book marketing when I got to 100 subscribers. I've reached that point, and will publish the first issue on or about July 25, and monthly thereafter.

This will be a mix of reader tips and tips from me (in putting together Grassroots Marketing for Authors and Publishers, needless to say I collected quite a few), generally one brief article each month.
