About Me and My Book:
My name is Tara Branche and I am a writer, poet, author, and spoken word artist. I write mainly short stories, essays, and poetry

I heard once in a seminar that in order to truly be a writer, then you have to write everyday. I've been writing for 5 years on and off, and still do not write everyday, but it remains a goal. Currently, I am progressing on this goal by working on a second book, which will be a novel; this also gives me the opportunity to challenge myself to complete a full-length manuscript. My debut book of poetry, When Rose Colored Glasses Break, will be released in August 2008.

“From the deep hollows of my soul
I let go of the pain
voicing my lessons
so i won't make the same mistakes again

This mental mirror reflects the castrated ego
that I let go of long ago
so that I won't forget
I won't forget.”--excerpt from the poem, 'Herstory'© 2008 Tara Branche

When Rose-Colored Glasses Break is a collection of poems written throughout the years chronicling my life's journey thus far. Poignant, witty, and thought-provoking best describes this debut offering. I bring comfort, compassion, and understanding of the misunderstood. Sometimes humorous, sometimes heart-wrenching, sometimes provocative, sometimes aphoristic, the issues of the day are brought to the forefront so that they can no longer be ignored or forgotten

Take off your glasses and come see the world with me

“When Rose Colored Glasses Break” is my debut collection of poetry, full of poignant, deeply personal, and starkly honest expressions about life, love, and society.

Here's a sneak peek of my upcoming title from Denovo Publishing:

Enjoy!

I would like to connect with you there also. I am trying to make more friends and fans so that I can spread awareness for breast cancer during pregnancy. I was diagnosed Stage 3 in the 5th month of my pregnancy in May. My status updates on Facebook and LinkedIn are usually about my fight.

Scribblers’ Retreat is not the typical classroom setting. It was designed to bring world-class authors, literature professors, editors, journalists, illustrators, photo journalists, proofreaders, publishers, publicists, screenplay writers, and website/graphic designers, etc. one-on-one with young and old alike. It is the opportunity of a lifetime for someone who has had a manuscript in a desk drawer for 40 years or who has an outstanding poem that simply must be read.

At Night She Screams
At night she lies in silence deep with in her sleep,

Knowing all along it's his violence she doeth keep

Rolling under covers with dreams as cold as hell

She seems to struggle silently but no one there can tell

She often moans in fear as her dreams come alive

She finds herself running from the pain so deep inside

She sees his face, he's laughing, and she begins to cry

She wakes up in her prison cell, "To bad he had to die."

She often sees this happening, to others and it seems

She knows no one will give a damn if at night she screams.
