About Me and My Book:
I am a freelace writer with a non-fiction magazine background of work on the English countryside.
My first novel, The Cuckoos of Batch Magna, set in the Welsh borders where I live, came out four years ago - it's a feelgood book, a The Darling Buds of May on the river - most of the characters live on houseboats in a river valley - type work. The sequel to it, Sir Humph at Batch Magna, comes out next spring - 2009 - followed later on that year by the third in the Batch Magna triogy, The Batch Magna Caper. Bewrite Books, my publishers, are excellent, publishers, dedicated to the pursuit of good writing, but have no money to spare for promotion: its authors are expected to get out, as it were, and push - hence my joining the Book Marketing Network.

Scribblers’ Retreat is a non-profit organization established with the goal of reaching writers of all ages; to inspire and promote their hidden gifts and talents.
By involving the local community, authors, publishers, editors, journalists and all forms of the literary world, we are opening their minds and bringing hope where there was doubt.
Scribblers’ Retreat is not the typical classroom setting. It was designed to bring world-class authors, literature professors, editors, journalists, illustrators, photo journalists, proofreaders, publishers, publicists, screenplay writers, and website/graphic designers, etc. one-on-one with young and old alike. It is the opportunity of a lifetime for someone who has had a manuscript in a desk drawer for 40 years or who has an outstanding poem that simply must be read.

Peter,
Your reassignment of the bligther cheered my Monday morning.
Incidently, not all that far from you our third son took his junior year in engineering over in Gilford at Sussex University. A jolly good time he had and I got to visit once a month on trips to the UK for Ford Motor.
Ta, Steve

Peter,
Thanks for the invite. I love Great Britain. I'm working on two novels; one which is based on a tru story of a young boy who runs away with a caravan circus in the 1890's. Keep writing. My wife and and four little ones spent three years in Essex and enjoyed it tremendously. Getting kicked out of Cardiff Castle for driving in through the staff gate is an incident our kids still talk about.
