By involving the local community, authors, publishers, editors, journalists and all forms of the literary world, we are opening their minds and bringing hope where there was doubt.
Scribblers’ Retreat is not the typical classroom setting. It was designed to bring world-class authors, literature professors, editors, journalists, illustrators, photo journalists, proofreaders, publishers, publicists, screenplay writers, and website/graphic designers, etc. one-on-one with young and old alike. It is the opportunity of a lifetime for someone who has had a manuscript in a desk drawer for 40 years or who has an outstanding poem that simply must be read.

Dr. Kinai:

I am going to save your information for use with a project that I am developing. I have been "led by the Spirit" to use some of what I learned beginning some 11 or so years ago in the healing of my cancer to put information out to the public on healthful practices and lifestyle. I have done constant research in the interim, and I am getting ready to produce a media program with podcasts, blogs, websites, TV and other broadcast outlets, to put out information I have aggregated, to collect stories from other people's experiences and to create helpful dialogue. At the top of my list during the weeks after I was diagnosed was the task of contacting everyone I knew who held to any religious belief and requesting prayer. I believe more than ever in that now as I have continued the learning process. In fact, I am reading a book which I would recomend to you by Dr. Larry Dossey, entitled "Prayer Is Good Medicine." I applaud your emphasis on stress management - also your use of Biblical text. I know that a lot of superstitious resistance to alternative and meditation-based therapies abounds among Christian fundamentalists - your approach is a way to overcome that. I would like to stay in touch with you.
