I've written a six-book fantasy series called the Riyria Revelations. All were written before the first was published so that I could intertwine plot points but I still made sure that each one was a complete episode - with its own beginning, middle, and end.
BOOK ONE: THE CROWN CONSPIRACY (Oct 2008)
Royce Melborn, a skilled thief, and his mercenary partner, Hadrian Blackwater make a profitable living carrying out dangerous assignments for conspiring nobles until they become the unwitting scapegoats in a plot to murder the king. Sentenced to death, they have only one way out…and so begins this epic tale of treachery and adventure, sword fighting and magic, myth and legend.
BOOK TWO: AVEMPARTHA (APRIL 2009)
When a destitute young woman hires Royce and Hadrian to help save her remote village plagued by nocturnal attacks, they find themselves once more drawn into the schemes of the wizard Esrahaddon. Each night brings death and each day finds Royce attempting to breech the secrets of an ancient elven tower while Hadrian teaches the villagers how to defend themselves against the unseen killer. Once more an assignment to steal a sword is anything but simple and places the duo in the center of a firestorm whose outcome could change the future of the world of Elan.
REVIEWS:
"The Crown Conspiracy is great fun and a romp end to end...Highly recommended and another positive surprise for 2008." — Fantasy Book Critic
"A fast paced and riveting fantasy, "The Crown Conspiracy" is well worth reading." — Midwest Book Review
"From the first chapter to the last, the plot twisted and turned in unexpected directions. It takes a great writer to weave a tale that surprises me, that keeps me in suspense, that keeps me reading late into the night and Michael J. Sullivan is a great writer." — Dee Marie, author: The Sons of Avalon
"The Crown Conspiracy was a page turning delight. Each character was intricately constructed so that an air of realism surrounded them. The twists and turns of the novel freed it from predictability and that in itself is refreshing these days. Sullivan is a master story teller" — Violette L. Reid, author: The First Chronicle of Zayashariya: Out of Night
