- Desert Flowers: Poems of Love and Life is my first book of poems. I've experienced military life firsthand. Married to a retired United States Marine Corps Sergeant Major, I resided most of my husband's active duty career in the California desert and developed a respect for the desert environment. My fascination with desert flowers led me compare them and their survival to the military lifestyle, particularly the life of a military wife.
