- About Me and My Book:
- I began writing when I was twelve, writing and illustrating my own books about horses, my first love. Inspired by Marguerite Henry and her Misty of Chincoteague books, my stories were full of adventures and happy endings as only a child can write them.
"Scattered Leaves: The Legend of Ghostkiller" is a historical thriller that began as a horror novel in January of 2004. I was thinking of something Steven King-ish, but it took on a life of it's own, evolving into a story about The Great Sioux Uprising and the largest mass execution in US history. As I wrote, I became driven by the need to tell a different story instead of the stereo-typical Indian stories told in Hollywood.
Throw in other favorite elements of mine like time-travel, history, action/adventure/suspense, and you come to understand what the 'Legend' is all about!
The spirits that I wrote about are still with me today; I am just the vehicle by which their story traveled to the paper.
