About Me and My Book:
"The Adventures of Mercury Lane" is a new series for "tween," teen and young adult readers--a hybrid of cyber-fantasy, action-adventure and real-world issues that matter to young and old readers everywhere.

The central character of the first episode is Jack "Mercury" Lane, whose father has died in the Iraq War. In the year that follows, Jack begins to goes astray. Then, on the night of December 22nd, 2007, as the hour of the winter solstice approaches, Jack is online when he stumbles upon a website with an ominous name: "Bad Commandments."

Ignoring dire warnings, Jack finds himself sucked through a "cyberspace wormhole" into the dangerous world of the violent video games he plays. It's the beginning of an adventure that will change him--and the reader--forever.

About the series:

-There are no wizards, vampires, or dragons
-The story shifts between cyberspace and the real world
-Jack is an ordinary boy in an extraordinary situation
-The power of God--not the occult--is exalted
-Jack's brilliant but crippled younger sister, Kelly, emerges as the moral center of the series
-The series is written for a secular audience, and gently promotes virtues based on the teachings of Jesus Christ

Each book of the series will be approximately 200 pages. The first episode is (as of 1 April 09) subtitled "Jack's Fall" (formerly "Bad Commandments.") The second episode, titled "Kelly's Run," will be released in the summer of 2009. The third episode, "Escape from Doom," will be released in the spring of 2010. Episodes follow on a nine month interval, climaxing in 2012.

Are you on Facebook and LinkedIn?

I would like to connect with you there also. I am trying to make more friends and fans so that I can spread awareness for breast cancer during pregnancy. I was diagnosed Stage 3 in the 5th month of my pregnancy in May. My status updates on Facebook and LinkedIn are usually about my fight.

Scribblers’ Retreat is a non-profit organization established with the goal of reaching writers of all ages; to inspire and promote their hidden gifts and talents.
By involving the local community, authors, publishers, editors, journalists and all forms of the literary world, we are opening their minds and bringing hope where there was doubt.
Scribblers’ Retreat is not the typical classroom setting. It was designed to bring world-class authors, literature professors, editors, journalists, illustrators, photo journalists, proofreaders, publishers, publicists, screenplay writers, and website/graphic designers, etc. one-on-one with young and old alike. It is the opportunity of a lifetime for someone who has had a manuscript in a desk drawer for 40 years or who has an outstanding poem that simply must be read.

James,
I love the setting you've chosen. As a teacher of teens, I think you have found some common ground to interest them!

Good luck~
