Writing children's books is a most rewarding experience. The joy that comes from knowing, that your story, put a smile on the face of a little one, is heartwarming. The tale being read to them, will impress them and teach them, while they listen to, or read the words, of a children's book. As an author, I feel blessed to be able to touch the lives of children, by the tales I write.

Hi,

With the holiday season nearing, I’d like to introduce you to Mistletoe…

“Many, many years ago,
Lived a maid named Mistletoe.
She dwelled amid the ice and snow,
Where the wintry winds oft blow.”

So begins Aurora of the Northern Lights, lyrically written and gorgeously illustrated in full color by renowned artist Donald Vanderbeek and ready just in time for this holiday season. Aurora of the Northern Lights is a holiday story of adventure, sprites and magical charms with a subtle message of tolerance.

The book follows the journey of Aurora, who is left alone and friendless after losing her parents. But Aurora isn’t the same as everybody else, and as she sets out alone, she finds it hard to find anyone who cares about her story⎯even at Christmastime⎯because of her differences.

As her trek continues, Aurora receives three special gifts to keep her safe, along with important clues about her true home. Before it’s over, she’ll encounter a host of bizarre-looking creatures until she winds up at the location of the world’s most famous bearded man.

Kids are sure to respond to the adorable figure of Aurora, whimsically drawn elves and other creatures. Parents and educators will appreciate the important message of tolerating all cultures, which is made without hitting kids over the head with it.

Aurora of the Northern Lights is now available through Ingram, Baker & Taylor, Amazon.com, barnesandnoble.com, and the online bookstore of Outskirts Press, at outskirtspress.com/store.php.

Hello Fellow Children's Authors!

I wanted to let you know about the 3rd Session of my Children's Author Academy that starts October 7th. I self-published my 1st book, I Love You More and sold almost 180,000 copies--making it in to John Kremer's Hall of Fame :-) Then we sold our book to a publisher and they helped land us on the NYT Bestsellers list 3 times. Now, I'm working with them on my next book due out Fall 2010. It's been quite a journey and I LOVE sharing what I've learned so that others can make their books best sellers too! You can find out more here www.LauraDuksta.com/academy

Please pass this on to anyone it might serve! It's a global tele-class so all are invited!!
