Book Marketing Network

The network for book authors and publishers

Kat R.

How about a place for wanting/giving posts?

This burgeoning community looks like it's developing into a valuable network. I'd like to be able to network most efficiently on it. What do you all think of the idea of having a section here - subforum, message board, sub-blog, etc., - designated for networking concrete things? A place to post want ads we have for each other or things we have to give? I'm getting messages from people seeking things, and for instance I have authors to offer for events. Thoughts?

John, would it be possible as far as Ning goes?

Anyone can start any sort of discussion, just like you did here. This could be a good forum for asking and giving posts. You can also blog about it. I don't know of a way to set aside an exclusive area for such posts other than a forum like this.

Sounds like you're talking about a modified Craig's List for writers. Might not be a bad idea.

Thanks John.

Okay, I'll start us off. As a publicist, I have a stable of authors I'm constantly booking for events. Anyone interested in booking this talent for speeches, readings, signings, interviews, or inviting articles, sidebars, etc., please contact me.

Busiest names right now are Geoffrey Pullum, Paul Brians, Judy Daubenmier, Allison Hantschel, Barbara Ashmun. Areas are language/linguistics, political news media & new media, gardening and art.

Bill,
Yes, that's a way of looking at it. Only extended to include anyone in the industry.
